Oelwein Daily Register, Monday, 24 Sept. 1951.

Earl Bennett was born the son of George H. And Olive W. Sprague Bennett in Fayette County, March 5, 1891, and died at the home of his brother, Emery Bennett, September 14, at the age of 60 years.

He married Elizabeth Olson at Great Falls, Montana, in 1916. They had one daughter, Helen O. Horne. Mr. Bennett was a brick mason and had spent most of his life in Oelwein.

Mr. Bennett was preceded in death by his wife in April 1940. Survivors include his daughter, Helen, of Butte, Montana, two stepchildren, Geneva McVey of Haver, Montana, and Verne Bennett of Butte. Also two sisters, Mrs. Lulu Gillingham, Independence, and Mrs. Walter Sutherland, Chicago, and a brother, Emery, of Oelwein. Two sisters and one brother also preceded him in death.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 PM at the Brant funeral home September 18, 1951, by the Rev. R. L. Ervin, Pastor of the First Church of Christ. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery.
