Elgin Echo, Thursday, 3 September 1908.

Tuesday of this week, Henry Hoelzer Sr., passed to the great beyond. For more than a year he has not been feeling well and for some weeks he had been confined to the house and to his bed. He was a mason by trade, and at the time of his death was a little over 65 years of age. Deceased was born in Switzerland and in the year 1868 he emigrated to this country, arriving in Elgin, November 2, 1868, and has made this city his home since that time. His wife, whose maiden name was Miss Elizabeth Schori, preceded him to the grave. Their nine children, five boys and four girls, together with many relatives and friends, survive him.

The funeral services will be held from the German Baptist Church this afternoon at 2 o'clock, with Rev. Draewel officiating.
