Elgin Echo, Thursday, 30 January 1908.
The sad death of a young woman occurred in Elgin Wednesday afternoon when Mrs. Eric Unger passed away, from the effects of sepsis. About a year ago she arrived here from her native country, Norway, for a visit at the home of Dr. And Mrs. Will. After a stay of a couple of weeks she went on her way to Mexico to meet Eric Unger, A Brother of Mrs. Will, and they were married at San Antonio, Texas. From There They Went to the City of Mexico, where he was employed by the government as a civil engineer. His work then took him to Vera Cruz, and Mrs. Unger returned to Elgin To Spend the winter at the Will home. Last week she became a mother, the child being dead when born, and her death followed five days later.
Mrs. Unger was a pleasant lady and had made a number of close friends during her short stay here. Her death is doubly sad because she is far away from home in a land of strangers and our whole community sympathizes with the family in the sorrow that has come to them.
Miss Myers, a sister of deceased, arrived from Utica, New York, Wednesday afternoon, a few hours before her sister passed away, but Mr. Unger has not been able to get here as yet.
It is thought the funeral services will be held Saturday and internment made in the Elgin Cemetery.
