Elgin Echo, Thursday, 11 April 1918.

This Thursday afternoon a telephone message from West Union conveyed the sad intelligence that judge A. N. Hobson had past away at Rochester, Minnesota. The information was meager and little was known regarding his last illness. For some time past he has not been feeling at his best and it was only recently he went to Rochester. When word came to West Union stating that he had passed away many of his best friends could hardly believe that the sad tidings could be true, for they had not known that he was sick.

Up to the present time it is not known whether he had an operation performed or whether death came quickly and without warning.

It is certain that he will be missed from the bench of the 13th Judicial District. He was the senior judge of this district and his service as judge had been a long and honorable one.

He was an authority on law and it was rare for a case to be reversed when he had given an opinion.

Judge A. N. Hobson was a man who had many friends and his death will not only be deplored in his hometown, but throughout the state and elsewhere.
