Elgin Echo, Thursday, 17 October 1912. (condensed).
Saturday morning our people were grieved and surprised to learn that Mrs. Elizabeth Moser had passed away at her home. She had not been ill and her passing was a sudden one. Her son and daughter were not at home at the time and it is thought she died from a sudden attack of heart failure.
Elizabeth Yutzi was born at Canton Berne Switzerland, May 14, 1840, and died at her home in Elgin October 12, 1912, aged 72 years 4 months and 28 days. She was baptized in the German Lutheran church of Berne. In 1860 she was married to Christian Moser, who was also of Switzerland. To this union were born ten children, namely; Fred and John, both of Manchester; Mrs. Rosa Lehman, of Strawberry Point; Mrs. Lena Retz, of Arlington; Mrs. Mary Lehman, Mrs. Louise Little and George Moser of Minneapolis, Minn.; Mrs. Emma Larrabee, of Ashland, Wis., and Chris and Amelia at the old home. She leaves besides these children 22 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She came to America with her husband and four eldest children in 1868, coming to Iowa and spent the rest of her life in and near Elgin. Her husband died at their home in Elgin December 14, 1905.
Funeral services were held at the German Lutheran church Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Draewel. Interment was made in the Elgin cemetery.
