DAVENPORT — Etta Cadogan Ryan, 85, Davenport, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013, at Genesis Medical Center, West Central Park, Davenport. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be 3-6 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Riverbend Make-a-Wish Foundation. Online condolences may be left at rungemortuary.com

Etta was born Oct. 1, 1927, in Oelwein, Iowa, daughter of Charles and Effie (Cousins) Peterman. She united in marriage to Benjamin Cadogan in 1948; they later divorced. She married Thomas Ryan in 1967, and they, too, later divorced.

Etta had been employed as U.S. Postal Carrier for 29 years, retiring in 1997. She was a member of NALC and AARP. She loved to travel, and was a huge movie buff, who loved to go out with her friends to a show. Family and friends were her first priority and she was known as “Mom” to many. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and took advantage of every opportunity to have family get-togethers.

Those left to honor her memory include children, Michael (Janice) Cadogan, Blue Grass; Kerry Cadogan, Lamoni, Iowa; Kevin (Brenda) Cadogan, Blue Grass; Sandra (Chuck) Mullinnix-Cox, Eldridge, and Dr. Brian (Lisa) Cadogan, Rio Rancho, N.M.; 13 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Etta was preceded in death by parents and three uncles who were like brothers.
