Elgin Echo, Thursday, 27 September 1894.

DIED- Daniel Brown, Saturday evening Sept. 22, at Fayette, Iowa, of consumption. Deceased was 20 years old at the time of his death. He was the son of Henry Brown and a grandson of Dan Hills, was born and raised near Brainerd. About two years ago he moved to Fayette with his father's family where the boy, an only son, was attending college. Funeral services were held at Brainerd Monday September 24.

The young man was of exceptional character, having many warm friends who mourn his early death. He leaves a father, mother and sister, one sister having died of the same disease about two years ago.
