Elgin Echo, Thursday, 13 December 1894.

Startling news from Fayette Wednesday was that announcing the death of Mrs. Col. Brown at 3 o'clock that morning. She was taken ill in the night. Dr. McLean was sent for but she expired before his arrival. Her death is particularly surprising as none this way had any intimation of her failing health, and all who participated in their golden wedding were confident that many years of life were yet in store for her. This must be a terrible blow to her husband, and his thousands of friends through the state will unite with us in sincere and heartfelt sympathy in his bereavement.- Gazette.
