Elgin Echo, Thursday, 29 November 1894.

On Nov. 16, 1894, occurred the death of H. H. Thompson at his home in Dover township. Funeral services were held at Mt. Pleasant church and interment made at the cemetery of that name, Monday, Nov. 18. The services were conducted by Rev. W. W. Lewis, of West Union, under the burial rites of the Knight Templar Masonic Lodge of Clermont of which deceased was a member in high standing.

H. H. Thompson was the son of David and Fannie (Sprigh) Thompson; was born in Pennsylvania in 1835, being 59 years, 8 months and 20 days old at the time of his death. He was one of a family of sixteen children, ten of whom survive him. He was married in 1860 to Rebecca Skinner, who died in 1884. With her he had six children all of whom are dead excepting Malcom who resides in Dover township. Mr. Thompson came to Fayette county in 1854 and has since that time been an honored and respected citizen of same. He was a man of many good traits who men only know to love.

His death is not only mourned by his son and mother, who still live, but by his neighbors and many friends.
