Postville Review, Friday, 27 September 1918. Dispatch from the West Union Union.

FORTUNE TELLER DESERTS CHILD AT WEST UNION.

A woman fortune teller, traveling under the name of Margaret Margolis, made the Fayette county fair last week accompanied by her five-weeks old baby, which weighed but four pounds, and a trained nurse. Friday the husband joined his wife and they must have thought the baby hardly worth raising, as they took it to the hospital Saturday morning, both parents leaving town in the afternoon, also dismissing the nurse. The little spark of life in the frail body went out Sunday afternoon, and the remains were laid to rest in the city cemetery the next afternoon. The parents were well dressed and seemed to have plenty of money. Sounds heartless, doesn't it, but the baby is much safer in the care of Him who said, "Suffer little children to come unto me, for of such is the kingdom of Heaven."
