Postville Graphic, Thur., 7 Nov. 1895.

Friday occurred the death of Mr. Henry McGaren. The sad news was not unexpected, for Mr. McGaren has been very low with consumption for several weeks. The funeral services were held Monday and the many friends who were here from all parts of the state showed in what high regard Mr. McGaren was held by all who knew him. There was an especially large number here from Elkader, where the deceased was well known, having been employed in the bank there till his failing health forced him to seek a milder climate, hoping thereby to ward off the dread disease. Solemn Requiem Mass for the dead was celebrated and Father Riley, of Elkader, preached a touching and pathetic sermon. The floral decorations were numerous and very beautiful. The sympathy of the entire community is extended to the family, the moreso on account of this being the second time during the year that consumption has carried off a member of that family.
