BERNEICE FOXThe community was shocked Thursday afternoon to learn of the passing of 13 year old Berneice Fox. Berneice had lived in this community a part of her life and had often visited with Mary and Bessie Jennings. Her friendly happy, loving disposition had won friends for her where ever she went. The many friends in this community extend their heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family.
Berneice Maxine, second daughter of Luman and Vivan Jennings Fox was born at Wadena, Iowa, Sept. 14, 1923. After a brief illness, she passed away at her home near Elkader, Iowa, June 17, 1937.
She was a happy, loving daughter and sister. She leaves to mourn her passing, her father and mother, sisters, Betty and Jo Ann and Brother, Lu Roy, all at home; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Fox, Oelwein; Mrs. Emma Jennings, Wadena; great grand parents Mr. and Mrs. George Fox, Volga; aunts , Joy Jennings, Newton; Mrs. H J. Doudney, Oelwein; Mrs. Helen Fox, Oelwein; Mrs. Ted Larson, West Union; Mary and Bessie Jennings, Quincy, Ill.; Ole Larson, Sioux Falls, So. Dak. ; Max Jennings, Sabula and Dean Fox, Oelwein, many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon at the United Brethren church at Wadena, the pastor, Rev. W. S. Elliott officiating. Mrs. Adolph Weber, Mrs. Elizabeth Kohler; Mrs. W. F. Moore and Mrs. Alla Leonhart accompanied by Mrs. Robert Frey sang “The Old Rugged Cross” and “In the Upper Garden”
Casket bearers were Virgil Meyers, Kenneth Meyers, Donald Hansel, Stanley Hansel, Michael Cunningham, and Lyle Burns.
Flowers girls, Mrs. Florence Litts, Mrs. Winnie Burns, and Fred Adams.
Interment was made in the Wadena cemetery.
