Mrs. Lena Wenger, daughter of John H. and
Wilhemenia (nee Knoll) Krueger, was born
February 15, 1885 in Sumner, Iowa. She was
baptized at the age of 13 by Rev. Hack and a
member of the First Baptist Church of Elgin.
Through the years she was active in the work
of the Women's Missionary Society.
- On March 24, 1909 she married Alfred H. Wenger
at her parents home. They lived in the Elgin area
and farmed until moving to Clermong in 1928.
- She died June 23 at Palmer Memorial Hospital after
an illness of two weeks at the age of 84 years.
- Survivors include her son, Lester H. Wenger of
Elgin and Isabelle (Mrs. Sheldon A. Weber) of San
Mateo, California; one brother, Richard Krueger of
Madison, South Dakota; two sisters, Mrs. Clara
Blatherwick of Sioux Falls, S. Dakota and Mrs. Oscar
Mueller of Hot Springs, S. Dakota; five grandchildren
and two great grandchildren.
- She was preceded in death by her husband in
September 1957 and an infant son.
- Memorial services were held at the First Baptist
Church in Elgin on June 25, Rev. Orville H. Meth
officiated. Burial was in the Elgin Cemetery.Elgin Echo - 3 July 1969
