Last Thursday at 12:30 o'clock the
grim messenger of death claimed as its
own. Mrs. H. M. Wing, wife of supervisor
Wing, at this place. She had for
sometime been a sufferer from a complication
of diseases, and her condition
has been deemed critical, yet her
death was nevertheless a shock to her
many friends.
Mrs. Sarah (Fellows) Wing was born
in Kate county, Ill., January 20th, 1847
and was married to H. M. Wing in
the town of Lodi, Ill., May 12th, 1865,
where they resided until March 1870
when they moved to Iowa, locating in
Oran township in this county where
they lived up to five years ago when
they moved into Oelwein. To them
were born three children, two sons and
one daughter, J. F. who resides in
Washington and who did not learn of
his mother's death in time to attend
the funeral, R. K who is agent for the
C. G. W. at Gladbrook,. and was present
with his family at the funeral and
Edna who is at home but was unable
to leave the house.
It is no exaggeration to say that
everybody loved Mrs. Wing. Hers
was a gentle, sweet, trustful spirit.
She was a member of the Baptist
church. The funeral services were
conducted by Rev. Hewes, of Aurora,
at the Baptist church, Saturday at 2
o'clock. The entire sympathy of the
community goes out to the sorrowing
husband and family.
