Max Christian Peterson was born January 6, 1843, in Schleswig Holstein, Denmark, and died January 22, 1928, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. George (Theresa) Schave, near Clermont.
He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church of his native city in Denmark. On August 19, 1869, he was married to Sophia Schumann of Clinton, Iowa, near which place they resided for a time and later moved to the vicinity of Farmersburg, which remained their home for 20 years and where the wife died fifteen years ago. Five years ago he took up his home with his daughter, Mrs. Dora [Charles] Schave, near Clermont, where he resided until his death.
He was the father of fifteen children, six of whom survive, viz: Mrs. Theresa [George] Schave of Clermont; Mrs. Minnie Stearns of Monmouth, Ill.; Bernhard [Ben] Henry Peterson, near Clermont; Mrs. Lucy [Ray] Bachelder, Saskatchewan, Canada; Mrs. Dora (Charles) Schave of Clermont; and Mrs. Ralph [Lee] Heasley. He is also survived by twenty-two grandchildren and one great-grand child.
The funeral was held from St. Paul's Lutheran church in this city at eleven o'clock Wednesday forenoon, January 25, Rev. E. T. Finck officiating. Interment near Farmersburg.
