The death of Martha Imogene Tunison
occured at the family home in this
city Saturday afternoon at 5:20, after
a short illness. She was a member of
the city high school, and attended
school the Monday previous. Pneumonia
with other complications caused
her death after but five days illness.
She was born in Smithfield township,
October 11, 1889, and was therefore
but a month and twelve days past
sixteen years of age. She was the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. Tunison,
and with the family came to Oelwein
when about one year of age. Just
blooming into womanhood, she has
fallen just as her feet were approaching
the possibilities of active life, and
her sudden removal is mourned by the
relatives and a large circle of young
friends by whom, she was loved and
admired. She is survived by her father
and mother, two sisters, Mrs.
George Brown and Mrs. Wilson, and
four brothers Frank, Charles, Ray and
Edgar.
The last services were held from the
Presbyterian church yesterday afternoon
conducted by Rev. A. E. Moody
and a large number of sympathizing
friends were present, also nearly all the
members of the high school. Flowers
in abundance were placed about the
sleeping form, and the remains were
tenderly borne to the city of the dead.
Sympathy is expressed for the bereaved
relatives in their affliction.Oelwein Register - 27 Dec 1905
