Again are we called upon to chronicle the
death of an Oelwein citizen. Mrs. Elizabeth
Badger, whose serious illness we noted last
week, died on Monday night, at the age of
about forty-two years. A postmortem examination
showed the cause of death to have
been gangrene of the bowels, a disease which
puzzles and baffles the sklll of physicians, and
is rarely met with. Her maiden name was
Elizabeth Ross. She was born in Wisconsin,
where about fourteen years ago she was married
to Horace Badger, One son was born to
them, who with the husband, is left to mourn
her loss. The family were residents of Maynard
for a number of years, and have not resided
in Oelwein but a short time, -The funeral
services were held in the Presbyterian
church Wednesday afternoon, being conducted
by Rev. Conybeare, and the renting were
Interred in the Oelwein cemetery. Deceased
was a sister of Mrs. D Tunison, of this city.
One sister also resides near Maynard, who
together with her mother and two brothers
from Kansas City, and a brother from Wisconsin,
were present at the funeral services.
