Selmer T. Holm Services Held
Funeral services for Selmer T. Holm of Postville, Iowa, where held Tuesday, Nov. 21, 1978, at Highland Lutheran Church, rural Elgin, Iowa. Rev. Duane Berg officiated. Schutte Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Highland Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Silas Butikofer, Neal Kreig, Glen Larson, Leonard Moore, Sylvan Torkelson, and William E. Torkelson.
Selmer T. Holm, son of Thorvald (Tom) and Kjersti (Clara) Landsgaard Holm, was born July 7, 1905 near Gunder, Iowa. He passed away Nov. 18, 1978 at his home in Postville, at the age of 73 years. He attended Elkader Public High School. On Nov. 21, 1928 he was married to Ruby Reinhart. To this union three children were born.
Selmer and his family farmed in Highland Township for 24 years. They moved to Gunder and he worked in Elkader as an electrician and service repairman. After retiring they moved to Postville where they have lived for three years.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby; a son, Selmer Roger Holm of Tustin, Cal.; two daughters: Mrs. David (Betty) Taylor of Ventura, Cal., and Mrs. L. Edward (Elaine) Lenth of Wheeling, Ill.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Selmer was active in soil conservation programs in Clayton County; a school district director for several years; Deacon and Trustee in the Highland Lutheran Church and served on many other committees.
