Mrs. N. B. Howell died suddenly
at her residence on Second Avenue
N. Saturday, August 8th, and the
funeral occurred Monday from the
residence, Rev. J. T. Shreve officiating.
Interment in the Oelwein cemetery.
Amanda Smith was born in Ohio,
October 28, 1838. In 1853 she was
united in marriage to Nicholas K.
Howell. To this union were born
three children, two of whom survive
her. The death of Mr. Howell occurred
several years ago, and a
daughter who resided in Washington
died three days before the
mother passed away. Two sons,
Elmer and Ora survive to mourn
her loss. The former was unable to
be present at the funeral on account
of illness. Mrs. Howell was a
faithful member of the Christian
church and died in the full faith.
