Mrs. James Tarr died at the
family residence in this city Saturday
morning after a week's illness of
typhoid fever. Funeral services
will be held at the residence at at 2
p. m. Thursday and at Grace M. E.
church at 2:30, Rev. Dilman Smith
officiating.
Elizabeth Turpin was born in Devonshire,
England, June 10, 1855,
and was therefore 48 years, 5 months,
20 days of age at the time of her
death. In 1875 she was united in
marriage to James Tarr, and to this
union there were born three sons,
Alfred James, Edmond George and
Ernest Albert, who with the husband
survive to mourn her loss. In
1888 Mr. Tarr came to this country,
and in 1890 Mrs. Tarr followed. The
family resided in Des Moines till
November 1899 when they came to
Oelwein which has since been their
home. In England Mrs. Tarr was a
communicant of the Baptist church,
but since coming to Iowa she has
been a regular attendant of the
Methodist Episcopal church, and
for the past four years she has been
a consistent worshiper at Grace M.
E. church. She was of the highest
type of woman, a devoted Christian
wife and mother, and was beloved
not only by her family but by her
many neighbors and friends as well.
The sincere sympathy of many
friends, among whom the publishers
of the Register are numbered, go out
to this family in their great affliction.
