OELWEIN - Funeral services for William Leo Mitchell will be 2p.m.,
Thursday, Sept 19, at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein,
with the Rev. John Kerr officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery,
Oelwein.
Friends may call from noon until service time Thursday at the funeral
home.
Mr. Mitchell, 92, died Sunday evening, Sept. 15,1996, at the Grandview
HealthCare Center, Oelwein, after a lengthy illness.
He was born Dec. 27,1903, in Oelwein, the son of Frank and Sophia
Marie "Mary" (Wittenberg) Mitchell. On Sept. 1,1926, he married Aline
Mary Ridler in Dubuque. She preceded him in death Jan. 12,1978. He
then married Marge Aileen Ellis on April 7, 1987. She died Dec. 29,
1993. Mr. Mitchell worked for Wilson Produce Co. for many years and
retired from Montgomery Wards in Oelwein. He was a lifetime Oelwein
resident and was a member of the Christ United Presbyterian Church,
Oelwein. He had been a resident of Grandview HealthCare Center since
March 5,1991.
Survivors include one daughter, Lona Lee (Robert) McSweeny of
Oelwein; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Aline; his
second wife, Marge; and one brother, Merl.
