Brakeman Elies E. Deyo was caught
between the bumpers while coupling
cars on a C. G. W. freight at Oneida
Junction Saturday afternoon, and met
his death. The remains were brought
to this city where he resided, and the
funeral occurred from the Episcopal
Church yesterday afternoon, Rev.
Smith, of that church officiating. Interment

Mr. Deyo was a member of the F. 0. E.,
and 70 Eagles attended the funeral,
and acted as an escort from the home
to the church, and to the cemetery. A
delegation of Brakemen were also in
attendance. Beautiful floral emblems
were presented by the Orders. Mr.
Deyo leaves a wife and seven children.
The oldest son is seventeen years of
age and the youngest child but fifteen
months. He had no insurance. The
sympathy of a large circle of friends is
extended to the family in their bereavement.
Mr. Deyo formerly was employed
in the C. G. W. freight depot,
and was well and favorably known by
a large circle of Oelwein citizens.
