Near Clermont, on Sunday morning March 29th, of Typhoid Fever, James
Fitzsimmons Jr., aged about 25 years.
The deceased was one of the most estimable men in Fayette County. He had
many attached acquaintances in McGregor also, many of whom attended the
funeral on Tuesday. Father Nagel [parish priest at McGregor] and
Father Quigley officiated at the Funeral. There were over eight teams in
the procession, besides many persons on horseback. It was probably the
largest funeral ever held in Northern Iowa.
