Mrs. Emily J. Whitney 1850-1932

Mrs. Emily Jeanette Tiffany Whitney was born
in Elmira, New York, July 5, 1850 and passed
away at the home of her granddaughter Mrs.
Lloyd Strom at Clarion, Iowa Saturday after-
noon, March 12.
She was united in marriage to Lewis M.
Whitney September 6, 1869 at West Union, Iowa.
To this union six children were born, Maude
Emily Morgan, Myrin Louise Holmes, Frank, Fred,
Lester and Mary A,
Of all her children she is survived only by
her son Fred of Los Angeles, Calif. She also
leaves six granddaughters, three grandsons, ten
great-granddaughters and one great great grand-
daughter.
Mrs. Whitney was a member of the Presbyterian
church of Oelwein and of the Rebekah Lodge. She
made her home most of her life in West Union and
Oelwein spending her last year with her grand-
daughter Mrs. Lloyd Strom.
The funeral services were held at the home at
10 o'clock Monday with Rev. H. O. Spilman of
Clarion officiating. Interment was made in
Dunham Grove cemetery near Randalia.
Out of town relatives who attended the funeral
as follows; Mrs. Marie Minor, Mrs. James O'keefe
and Richard Holmes of Cedar Rapids, J. E. Holmes
and Mrs. Sarah Tiffany of Oelwein.
