Mrs. Earl Brause, 57, died at 2:30 pm Monday
at her home in Waterloo, while apparently
perfect health and listening to the broadcast
of the world series ball game. She had done her
weekly washing in the forenoon and was in
good spirits when her husband left after lunch
for his work. She and her daughter, Mrs. Arnold
Cagley were sitting in the home together
listening to the radio and joking each other
when her head fell on her breast. First a neighbor
was called, then a physician, death having
occurred before the physician arrived.
Mrs. Brause was the former Emma Johnson, a
lifelong resident of Fayette County until the
family moved to Waterloo less than eight years ago.
She was the daughter of the late Hadley Johnson,
Dover township. Most of her life was spent in
Dover and in West Union. She was married to
Earl Brause October 12, 1912, they continuing to
reside in this city until they moved to Waterloo in
1928. They became parents of one daughter,
Imogene, now Mrs. Arnold Cagley. Mrs. Cagley's
daughter, Nancy Lou is the only grandchild.

Surviving besides the husband, daughter and grand-
daughter are two sisters and two brothers; Mrs. John
Borland, Oelwein; Mrs. Bertha Swenson, Portland, Ore.;
Henry Johnson, Clermont and Ed Johnson, Arlington.
A sister, Mrs. A. G. Thompson, died a number of years
ago.

The funeral will be held at 2:30 pm today,
Wednesday, from the Methodist church in West Union
by the Rev. T. M. Nielsen and burial will be in the
West Union cemetery.
