Fidelia Call 1827 - 1906

The death of Mrs. Fidelia Call occurred at her home on
First Avenue East, Thursday after an extended illness.
The funeral took place from the Presbyterian church
Saturday at 10 am, Rev. A. E. Moody officiating.
Fidelia Brown was born near Montpelier, Vermont,
March 1, 1827 and resided there till 1837 when the
family came west to Illinois and settled near Sycamore
in that state. March 22, 1847 she was united in marriage
to Benjamin F. Call at St. Charles, Illinois.
In the fall of 1863 Mr. and Mrs. Call and children came
to Iowa and located at Grove Hill, twelve miles west of
Oelwein. They continued to reside there till 1877 when
they came to Oelwein and purchased a residence on First
Avenue East, where they remained till the end. Mr. Call's
death occurring April 3, 1905 and her summons came
April 12, 1906 --- one year and nine days later.
To Mr. and Mrs. Call were born five children, four of whom
survive them; Orvis A. resides on the old home farm at
Grove Hill; Arthur O. died in 1880; Henry J. resides in
Arkansas; Mrs. Eliza Shillington resides near Clarion; Miss
Carrie L. Call is a resident of Oelwein. To the children who
survive is extended the sympathy of many friends in the
loss of a kind and loving mother.
