SUMNER (Special) — Funeral services for Albert Raether,
76. will be held at 2 p. m. Thursday at St. Paul's Lutheran
church in Sumner with the Rev. Eugene Kramer officiating.
A prayer service will be held at 1:30 p. m. at the Raether
home. Burial will be in the Church cemetery near Westgate.
Mr. Raether died Tuesday at the Sumner hospital following a
long illness, Born in Germany in 1883. he came to America as
a small child with his parents, Ferdinand and Johannah Raether.
In 1907 he married Minnie Bartz at Westgate. They farmed in
Fayette county until their retirement in 1945 when they moved
to Sumner.
Survivors include his wife: son, Arthur of Maynnrd: five daughters,
Mrs. Arnold Hintz of Westgate, Leota, Elsie, Ella, Gartha all at
home; two grandchildren.
Body lies in stale at the Sumner funeral chapel until Thursday
morning when it will be taken to the Raether home.
