Bertha Roete 1887-1946

Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha
Roete of Stanley were conducted
at St. Mary's church in
Lamont Saturday morning at a
requiem high mass at 9:30 a. m.,
with the Rev. Joseph W. Bahr officiating.
Interment was in the St. Albert
cemetery in Lamont. Her six sons
acted as pallbearers: Marvin, Elmer,
Joseph, James, Raymond and
August Jr. Roete.
Bertha Marie Baussaer, eldest
daughter of Bernard and Marie
Mathilde Boussaer, was born in
Ostacher, Belgium, May 19, 1887;
and died on June 12, 1946, at the
age of 59. She came to America
October 18, 1911. She was married
to August John Roete November
22. 1911, who came to America
the month before.
Nine children were born to
them, all of whom are living. She
lived in Brooklyn, Iowa, for a few
years and later moved to Victor,
Iowa, where she lived for 22 years.
The family moved to Fulton, Ill.,
and then to Stanley, where they
are now residing.
For the past year she had been
in ill health but suffered a stroke
two days before her death. Survivors
are six sons, Marvin, Elmer,
Joseph, James, Raymond and August
Jr.; three daughters, Miss Rose
Mary at home, Mrs. Mary June
Ballard of Aurora and Mrs. Margaret
Feller of East Moline, III.,
and nine grandchildren. Also living
are five brothers and one sister
in Belgium and one brother in
Chicago. A sister, Marie, preceded
her in death. She was a member of
St. Mary's church, Lamont, lowa.
Funeral arrangement were made
by S. G. Kreussel.
