Valentine Carl Loeb, son of Valentine and Christina
Harting Loeb, was born Feb. 20, 1880 at Jubilee.
On October 23, 1907, he was married to Lottie Sidler
in Oelwein by Pastor Zimmerman. They established
their home on a farm five and one half miles south-
west of Oelwein and lived their until Dec. 6, 1941
when they moved to Oelwein.
He kept active and in fair health until about a year
ago when he underwent surgery. Early in August he
became ill and had been in the hospital since Sept 12.
He died Oct. 20, 1951.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Dorothy
(Mrs. Merlin Graf) Oelwein and Delpha (Mrs. Donald
Werner) Aurora; four grandchildren; three sisters,
Mrs. August Gosse, Oelwein, Mrs. Wm. Hultman, Westgate,
and Mrs. G. C. Robertson, San Carlos, Calif.; three
brothers; Fred, Oelwein; Robert, Westgate; and
Henry, Sullivan, Ill. One daughter, three grand
children and two sisters preceded him in death.
Funeral services were conducted at Zion Lutheran
church October 22, 1951 by the Rev. H. E. Dieter.
Music by Mrs. H. E. Dieter and Mrs. Robert Rechkemmer
with Mrs. E. F. Schuchmann, Organist. Burial in
Woodlawn cemetery.
