Absolom Hancock 1861-1910

Absolom Hancock was born in
Jefferson township, Fayette county
April 18, 1861 and departed this life
at Fairbank, June 18, 1910, aged
forty-nine years and two months.
The cause of his demise was tuberculosis
from which he had suffered
for some months. During his last
illness he was cared for by the Oelwein
Bartenders Association that saw
to it that he had medical treatment
and careful nursing. The same asso-
ciation also had charge of the burial
service, Rev. J. J. Tatum offering
prayer at the grave. He was survived
by two brothers and a sister
One brother, John Hancock of Hazleton
was present ai the last services,
as was also his sister, Mrs
Woods of Des Moines. He was well
known in the city where he resided
nearly all his life and had many
friends who regret that he was called
to the noontime of life. Requiescat
in pace.
