Zelma Mildred Winegar, 90, of 1426 1st Ave. E. died of congestive heart failure Wednesday, Feb. 13, at USA Healthcare Newton.
A memorial service will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Pence Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. Stephen Mathison Bowie, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Newton, officiating. Burial will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery in Westgate.
Friends may call after 9:30 a.m. Saturday until the time of the service at the funeral home. Memorials will be accented in Mrs. Winegar's name to Hospice of Jasper County or to the First Presbyterian Church.
The daughter of Arthur R. and Florence E. (Gill) Garrett, she was born Dec. 31, 1911, in Lanesboro. She was a graduate of Lohrville High School.
She married Lloyd Crabtree in 1932. Later, on Dec. 15, 1961 she married Kenneth E. Winegar.
She was an assistant manager of PX Cafeteria in Fort Crook, Neb., and worked as a secretary in the assembly office at Maytag Plant 2 and for insurance companies in the area. Mrs. Winegar was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Newton.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law Ray D. and Betty Crabtree of Hermitage, Mo., two daughters, Coleen K. Brayton of Des Moines, Karen L. Hanks of Merrifield, Minn., two stepdaughters and a son-in-law, Gay Annette and Jerome Briski, Greenwood, Wis. and Kristin E. Gardner of Minneapolis, Minn., 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, a brother and a sister.
