Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Lyngaas were held Monday, September 8, 1997 at 1 p.m. in the east Clermont Lutheran Church, rural Clermont. The Rev. Paul Birkedal officiated. The Schutte Service of Clermont was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Dorothy Nevin Lyngaas, daughter of Howard Joseph and Helen Midgley (Luke) Nevin was born March 16, 1923 in Pomona, Calif. She died Friday, September 5, 1997 in Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon. She was 74.

She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith on July 31, 1947. In 1941 Dorothy was graduated from the Escondido, California High School. During World War II she was employed in an aircraft factory as a welder. On March 1, 1947 she married Helmer Lyngaas at the Lutheran parsonage in Clermont by the Rev. Nesset. They had two children.

Dorothy had been employed as a domestic by Mrs. Nash of the Nash-Finch Corporation. After her marriage to Helmer, the couple farmed in the Clermont area. She had also been employed by Groth Packing Company in Postville and in the last several years she had worked for Fred and Dorothy Groth in their home. Other jobs she had were at the Wapsie Produce Company in Decorah and the Iowa Turkey Products Plant in Postville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Helmer who died in 1977, a grandson, Travis Dibble and a niece, Georgia Triem.

Surviving are her children, Lowell Lyngaas and Marcia (Leon) Dibble; two granddaughters, Trista and Taryn Dibble, all of rural Postville; a sister, Lucylle Triem of Apache Junction, Ariz and other relatives and many friends and neighbors.

Dorothy was a member of the East Clermont Lutheran Church and the Women of ELCA.

Casket bearers were Alvin Erickson, Loren Green, Oliver Larson, Terry Olson, James Larson, Melinda Clark and Wayne Amundson.
