Funeral services were held for Emma Marie Lantz Olson, 85, Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1993, at Peace United Church of Christ, Elkader. Rev. Lance A. Bentley officiated the service with burial in East Side Cemetery, Elkader. Pallbearers were Douglas Kuehl, Bart Kuehl, Frank K. Weber Jr., Jeffrey Wagner, Brad Wagner, Rey Escamilla, Bryan Wagner, Victor Lantz and Michael Kaprich.

Emma Marie was born May 20, 1908, in Sacred Heart, Minn., to Nels and Ingrid (Docken) Nesteby. She moved to Iowa with her father and family after her mother's death. At the age of six she was raised by foster parents, Ted and Julia Loftsgard. On May 26, 1928, she was united in marriage to Leslie Lantz. Four children were born to this union. Emma worked at the Central Community Hospital for 17 years as a dietary cook. She has also been a long time member of Peace United Church of Christ. Her husband Leslie died July 1, 1975. Emma married Elmer Olson September 1, 1979. They moved to Oregon where they resided until his death in July of 1993. While in Oregon, she was a member of the Rebecah (sic) Lodge and Sons of Norway. She died Sunday, Sept. 12, 1993, at Central Community Hospital, Elkader.

Survivors include her son LaVerne Lantz of Delafield, Wis.; three daughters, Verna (Mrs. Richard) Kuehl of Elkader, Norma (Mrs. Frank) Weber of Milan, Ill., and Sheryle (Mrs. Tom) Stoffel of Elkader; two stepchildren, Walter Robert Olson of Nehalem, Ore., and MaryAnn (Mrs. George) Eberlein of Ferndale, Wash.; nine grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; a brother Elmer Nesteby of Lucan, Minn.; and two sisters, Mayme Embretson of Billings, Mont., and Inga Baker of Waterloo.

Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents and foster parents; two grandchildren, Richard Lee and Mark Kuehl; four brothers; and three sisters.
