Mrs. Lambert received a letter from
her brother, Mr. Kidder, living in
Brush Creek saying that Mrs. Kidder
was very low and could live but a
short time. She is well known around
here, once owning and living on the
place now owned by Mr. VanAtten.
Her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs.
Conrad, live near that place. She has
been sick a long time

Oelwein Register - 24 May 1889

June 5th. On Saturday at 2 o'clock
the funeral sermon of Mrs. Harriet
Kidder was preached in the church in
this place by Rev. Kidder, the Baptist
minister at Brush Creek. Her death
was not unexpected, she having been
sick for a long time. Her maiden
name was Conrad. Her aged father
and mother, one sister, Mrs. John
Chase, and several brothers live near
here, and one brother in Brush Creek,
whose death is looked for at any time.
A large number of neighbors and
friends were in attendance to pay the
last tribute of respect to the dead, who
was much respected, and after a
touching sermon on the reserection of
the dead, and the reading of an obituary,
she was laid to rest with several
of her children, at the age of 50 years.
