Funeral services for Kathryn Marie Grove were held Tuesday, August 4, 1987, 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Elgin. Rev. Richard Kretzschmar officiated. Interment was in the Elgin Cemetery.

Kathryn Marie, daughter of Dr. Samuel and Clara (Schori) Kuster, was born November 6, 1903 at Elgin. She was raised and educated in the area. After her graduation from Cornell College, Kathryn began her teaching career in Winthrop, IA. She married Willard J. Grove November 30, 1928. At this time she continued teaching intermittently in a number of Iowa high schools until her retirement as librarian at Valley in 1973. Her husband Willard preceded her in death on December 17, 1969. She was active in PEO, Eastern Star, the Progress Club, Senior Citizens and enjoyed reading and sports.

Her survivors include her son David, of Clinton; a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Alleman of Burlingame, CA; a niece, Annette Freger, great nieces Linda and Sharon, cousins and many friends.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Willard, December 17, 1969; her parents, a son Bruce in 1939 and a daughter Marie in 1945.

Casket bearers were Jay Dummermuth, Bill Dummermuth, James L. Frieden, David Strong, Jeff Cline and Michael Cline.
