Frank E. Gardner passed
away at 7:20 Monday evening at
the United States Veterans' hospital
in Des Moines. He had been in ill
health for over a year.
He is survived by his widow;
one son, Francis W. Gardner,
Oelwein; a step-daughter, Mrs.
Katherine Oliver of Omaha, Ne-
braska; his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
E. F. Gardner, 202 Eleventh
avenue southwest, with whom he
made his home; three sisters,
Mrs. Emery Bennett, Oelwein;
Mrs. Lewis Rose and Mrs. Roy
Stearns, both of Waterloo.
The body will arrive in Oel-
wein at 11:30 Wednesday noon
and will lie in slate at the Brant
funeral home until the hour of
funeral which will be at nine
o'clock Thursday morning at the
Sacred Heart church. Burial will
be at Woodlawn.
He was born in Lima, July 4,
1891. On May 27th, 1919 he was
united in marriage to Nina Sherman
at Galena, Illinois.
He served with Co. A. 5th Engineers
in the World war and was a member
of the Waterloo American Legion nnd
Drum and Bugle Corps.
