Harold Fred Kuhse, 89, died Saturday morning, May 6, 2000 at the Great River Care Center, McGregor, IA, following a long illness. He was born on August 12, 1910 in rural Fayette Co., IA, to Rudolph and Linda (Riechkof) Kuhse.

Over the years Harold helped various farmers in the Clayton Co. area. He resided at Scenic Acres for many years, the Guttenberg Care Center, and for the last while, at the Great River Care Center.

Harold is survived by a sister Bernice Benzing of St. Olaf, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Esther Schultz, and two brothers, Archie and Harlan.

Funeral services were held Monday, May 8, 2000 at 1:30 p.m. at Leonard Funeral Home, Elkader, Iowa, with Rev. Bruce L. Hanson officiating. Interment was at Farmersburg-Wagner Cemetery in rural Farmersburg, Iowa. Casketbearers were Shawn Kuhse, Lanny Kuhse, Eugene Schultz, and Allen Kuhse.
