A Funeral Mass will be held today (Wednesday, October 28) at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of the River Catholic Church, located at 28200 226th Street Place in LeClaire, Ia.

Visitation will be held today (Wednesday) from 4-7 p.m. at the church.

Burial will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, rural West Union.

Runge Mortuary and Crematory, Davenport, is in charge of arrangements.

Thomas Joseph Molumby was born March 12, 1951, in West Union to Matthew Joseph "MJ" and Helen (Hinsenbrock) Molumby.

He attended Campion Jesuit High School, Prairie du Chien, Wis., received his undergraduate degree from St. John's University in St. Cloud, Minn., and did his postgraduate work at Florida State University in Tallahassee, Fla.

Presently Tom was a law enforcement professor at Black Hawk College. He had previously held teaching positions at both St. Ambrose University and Western Illinois University.

Tom was active in his community. He was a longtime volunteer for the LeClaire Fire Department, a former LeClaire City Council member, and a member of the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences.

At his church, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

He had a passion for history, especially World War II. He will be fondly remembered for his big heart, his contagious laugh, and the great pride he took in helping people.

Tom's father and a sister, Joan Pollock, preceded him in death.

Those left to honor his memory include his children, Matthew Joseph Molumby of Pt. Byron, Ill., Erin Elizabeth (Martin Paul) Williams and Anthony Thomas Molumby, both of Kansas City, Mo.; two grandchildren, Drake Randal Williams and Reece Carolyn Williams.

Also surviving are Tom's mother, Helen Molumby of West Union; his siblings, Mary (Loran) Recker, his twin sister, of Charles City, Theresa (Mikio) Suzuki of Macon, Ga., Joe (Sandy) Molumby of Chippewa Falls, Wis., John (Cathy) Molumby of Elgin, Beth Reeves of Stillwater, Minn.; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Memorials may be directed to Our Lady of the River Catholic Church or the LeClaire Fire Department.
