Betsy Pearl Shippy 1886-1933

Betsy Pearl Pratt was born January 11, 1886,
near Otterville, Iowa and passed from this
life February 6, 1933 at the age of forty-seven
years and twenty six days. She suffered a
paralytic stroke the morning of her death, from
which she never regained consciousness. Her
parents were Thomas and Anna Pratt both of
whom preceded her in death. She spent most
of her childhood and grew to womanhood on
a farm southeast of Hazleton.
She was united in marriage to Ira Shippy
February 9, 1916. One son Alvin was born to
this union. Her husband preceded her in death
May 13, 1918. She leaves to mourn her passing,
her son, two sisters, Mrs. Frances Riche of Aurora,
IA; Mrs. Charles Heidt of Lamont, IA; and two
brothers, Guy Pratt of Rowley, IA and Harvey
Pratt of Oelwein. One sister, Nora, preceded her
in death a number of years ago. Besides she
leaves a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Thursday, February 9,
1933 from the Brant Funeral Home. Survivors
were in charge of Pastor George McFarlane.
Interment was made at Hazleton Cemetery.
