Raymond Beason, son of Edward C. and Ada Beason Rice,
was born at Alta on July 12, 1901, and had lived in Oelwein
for 33 years and died at Mercy Hospital on June 20, 1956.
For 20 years he traveled for Armour Company and had been
in business in Oelwein since 1940. At the time of death he
was in partnership with Roy Anderson in the Andy and Ray's
Firestone Store.
He had been a member of the First Presbyterian church of
Oelwein since 1928. He was also a member of the Elk's Lodge
and was associated with the business activities.
He is survived by his wife, the former Helen Preston, whom he
married on May 26, 1923 at Dubuque; two sons, Jack Clinton of
Jacksonville, Ill. and George E. with the air force at Tokyo, Japan;
one brother, Homer E. of Atlantic and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, who made
their home with him for the last ten years of their lives.
Funeral services were held at the Brant Funeral chapel on Saturday,
June 23, at 2 pm in charge of Dr. L. W. Hauter. The following
served as casket bearers; Roy Anderson, Robert Hines, Roy Larson,
Harry Keniston, Harry Yount and
Edgar Stanley. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery.
