MAYNARD (Special) Laura
Palmyra Ranney was born Sept
10, 1896 at Maynard, the daughter
of Herman and Cora Payne
Ranney. She died suddenly at her
home on Friday, Feb. 5, 1971 at
the age of 74 years, 4 months and
26 days.
She received her education in
the Maynard schools and Upper
Iowa College, Fayette, and entered
the teaching profession until her
marriage to Harold Arthur on
March 23, 1917. They had five
children.
Mrs. Arthur was an active member
of the Emmanuel United
Methodist church, Maynard, where
services were held Monday, Feb.
8 with burial at Long Grove cemetery,
Maynard. The Rev. Donald
C. Gatrelle officiated. Delsing-
Wright Funeral Home was in
charge of arrangements.
She was preceded in death by
her parents, her husband, Harold;
two sons, Robert who was killed
in France during World War II
and Elwyn; two grandsons; one
brother, and four sisters.
Survivors include one son, Earl,
Maynard; two daughters, Mrs. Raymond
(Dorothy) Johnson, West
Union and Mrs. Ernest (Winnifred)
Spani, Butte, Mont.; one
daughter-in-law, Mrs. Evelyn Arthur,
Maynard; 18 grandchildren
and 10 groat grandchildren.
Pallbearers were James Arthur,
William Arthur, Dennis Arthur,
Vernon Arthur, Rodney Arthur
and Myron Arthur.
