Earl Franks, the son of George Jacob and Amelia
DeSotel Franks, was Born Oct. 1, 1893 on a farm
near Colesburg and died at Independence March 23,
1956, at age of 57 years, five months and 23 days.
He had been an invalid the past seven years.
He is survived by four brothers; Michael, Hawkeye;
George, Randalia; Charlie, Wadena and Amos, Garber;
also three sisters, Mrs. Huston (Helen) Smith, Oelwein;
Mrs. Leo (Minnie) Ertz, McGregor and Mrs. Henry
(Erma) Weidemann, Cassville, Wis. Also 33 nieces
and 43 great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents in February
and April 1939.
Mr. Franks became a member of the Catholic church
during his illness.
Funeral services were held May 27 at the Immaculate
Conception church in Fairbank, the Rev. R. G. Collins
officiating. Burial was in the Fairbank Cemetery.
