George Wallace Gibson

George Wallace Gibson, one of Jackson county’s prosperous residents, passed away Sunday morning at 5:15 o’clock following an eighteen months’ illness.

He was born September 2, 1869, in Farley, Dubuque county, Iowa, and came to this county when six years of age; and spent the remainder of his life in this locality.

On April 3, 1893, he was united in marriage to Miss Mattie Woodell. The marriage ceremony was performed at Davenport, Iowa. They located on a farm northeast of this city where they farmed successfully for many years, retiring from farm life in March, 1917.

Mr. and Mrs. Gibson had visited Colorado at various times for the benefit of Mr. Gibson’s health, but all to no avail.

Besides his wife he is survived by one daughter, Florence, his father, George Gibson, also two brothers and three sisters: L. A. Gibson of Ryan, Iowa, W. E. Gibson of Wall, S. D.; Mrs. Wyldie Tompkins of Fayette, Iowa; Mrs. M. P. Crane of Weldona, Co.; and Mrs. Marvel Gibson Mason of Iowa Falls.

The funeral service will be held from the home Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock. Dr. J. G. Morgan officiating. Interment will be made in Mt. Hope cemetery.
