Alexander Rose King, eldest child of John and Jessie King, was born on September 15, 1879, and died at the home of his parents on January 12, 1919 aged 39 years, 3 months and 28 days.
In September, 1900. the deceased was united in marriage to Miss Pearl Bunnell and to them two boys were born, Cyril and John. Both boys are now in school.
Although possessed of a strong constitution and a rugged physique, and given every care that skill and kindness could possibly offer, this young man could not rally from the grip of the dread pneumonia which seized him less, than two weeks ago.
His is the first death to occur in this family circle. He is survived by his father and mother, four sisters, Mrs. J. N. McFadden of Oelwein, Mrs. L. H. Young of Osage, Mrs. T. L. Wheeler of Nora Springs, Mrs. Warren Preston of Oelwein and one brother, James, of this city.
Funeral services were conducted at the home of the deceased's parents by Rev. W. C. Cleworth Tuesday afternoon. Interment was made in Woodlawn cemetery.
