Kennard Harrison VanCamp, son of John Franklin and Anna Elizabeth N. Anderson VanCamp was born Sept. 17, 1889, in Elizabeth, W. Va.
In early youth he came west, and worked on the railroad and at other jobs in Missouri, Kansas,
Nebraska, Wyoming and Idaho. On Aug. 14, 1914, he started work here for the Chicago Great Western as a fireman, and then became an engineer. Since March 1, 1944, he has been on disability
retirement from that position.
On Dec. 30, 1919, he married Elizabeth Ohligschlager. They had one son, Lyle, who together with his wife, shared the parental
home at 230 3rd Ave. S. E.
He was received into membership of the Lutheran church on Sept. 18, 1938, and continued to
be a regular attender at services and holy communion until being confined to his home since last July.
He was taken to the local hospital last March 19 and died Friday, March 21,1952, at 6:30 p. m.
He is survived by his wife and son; two brothers, Roy of Detroit, Mich., and Albert of Kewanee,
Wis.; nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted at Zion Lutheran church by pastor H. E. Dieter March 25, 1952,
with Russell Brant as soloist and Mrs. E. F. Schuchmann as organist. Burial was at Woodlawn.
