Services for James Palides, 71,
will be held at the Brant Funeral
Home Wednesday, June 1, at 1:30
p.m. with Rev. Richard Emery officiating.
Burial will be at Woodlawn cemetery,
Oelwein.
Palides, a resident of Day's
Nursing Home since March 8, died
May 28 at 5:45 p.m. He formerly
operated the Arch Candy Kitchen
and later the Cozy Cafe in Oelwein.
Born August 4, 1888, in Greece,
Palides came to the United States
fifty years ago; he has been a resident
of Oelwein for 45 years.
Palides was preceded in death
by his wife, Ella May Davis Palides,
who died in 1957. His son,
James Jr., died at Pearl Harbor
December 7, 1941. -
Survivors include relatives of
his wife: Alfred Davis, Kansas
City, Missouri; Mrs. Edna Beberness,
Grand Island, Nebraska; Mrs.
Emma Flynn, Muncie, Kansas, and
other nieces and nephews.
Brant funeral home is in charge
arrangements.
