Fred Lee Miller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fenda Miller, was born July 12, 1901 just south of Oelwein, and passed from this life at Mercy Hospital Thursday, November 26 at 12 o'clock noon.

Practically his entire life has been spent around Oelwein, and he grew to manhood in our midst. He was baptized into the Baptist church at the age of 10. He entered the C. G. W. shops where he worked until 1925 when he went to Chicago and worked as boilermaker for the New York Central.

He has made his home with his parents south of town for the past year and a half. He was of a happy care-free nature and always looking on the bright side of life, cheering those in sorrow and befriending the needy.

He leaves to mourn his sudden passing, his mother and father and five sisters, Mrs. Earl Henry of Sterling, Colorado; Mrs. L. J. Anderson of Omaha, Nebraska; and Kathryn, Edith, and Mary all at home, and three brothers, Harry, Bert and William of Oelwein.

The funeral services were conducted by Rev. and Mrs. C. E. Hillis in the Hintz Funeral home Sunday, November 29 at 2:00 pm. Homer Gartz, Elizabeth Gartz and Ellen Ervin sang three comforting selections accompanied by Miss Verona Swanson on the piano. Interment at Otsego cemetery.
