Lula M. Miller 1875-1944

Mrs. Lula Miller was born July
2, 1875, to Mary Jane and John
Dearhammer on a farm southeast
of Westgate, Iowa.
On June 3, 1891, she was united
in marriage to Fonda Miller of
Oelwein. To this union were born
10 children: Harry of Mountain
Grove, Missouri: Neva of Sterling,
Colorado; Roxy and Mary of
Davenport, Iowa: Kathryn of Cedar
Falls, Iowa; Bert, William and
Edith of Oelwein. Two sons, Ray
and Fred, and her husband, preceded
her in death. There are 18
grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
She also leaves three sisters,
Mrs. Harriet Hanson of Mankato,
Minnesota, Mrs. Gertrude Osborn
and Mrs. Maude Kelley of Red
Bluff, California, and three brothers,
William of Oelwein, Charlie
of Bruce, Wisconsin, and Dr. John
Dearhammer of Detroit, Michigan.
Mrs. Miller has spent her entire
life in the vicinity of Oelwein,
and since the death of her husband,
has made her home among
her children.
She was taken to Mercy hospital
Wednesday morning for an
emergency operation from which
she failed to rally.
Funeral services were held Saturday
afternoon at 2:00 p. m. at
the Hintz Funeral home, Rev. W.
Edward Epps, pastor of the First
Baptist church, officiating. Burial
was made at the Otsego cemetery.
