Funeral services for Thomas
Oakes; 72, a longtime resident of
Hazleton, are pending at Brant Funeral
home.
Mr. Oakes, a retired farmer, died
this morning (Monday) at his home
in Hazleton.
He is survived by his wife, six
sons and three daughters. The
daughters are Mrs. Ralph Russell,
Mrs. Ralph Palmer and Mrs. Harold
Lohman, all of Independence; sons,
Ralph, Fayette; Ron, Hazleton,
Leon, Randalia; Melvin, Oelwein;
Thomas jr., Bevington; and Charles
at home. A brother H. E. Oakes,
Randalia, 14 grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren also survive.
He was born Dec. 26, 1884, the
son of Hiram and Elizabeth Devolt
Oakes. His parents and two sons,
Donald and Marvin, preceded him
in death.
Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial
Gardens.
He was a member of Waterfall
lodge No. 511 A.F.&A.M. and Order
of Eastern Star in Hazleton.
