Minnie Loretta Nauertz, eldest daughter of John and Catherine Nauertz, was born at Rockford, Illinois on March 16, 1865. In her infancy she came with her parents to Waucoma, where in 1879 diphtheria claimed the lives of two sisters, Ida and Louisa. Earlier, while the family still lived in Rockford, a brother and sister died in infancy, and later on February 13, 1902 a brother Albert passed away. When Mrs. Moyer was about 12 years of age the family moved to Sumner where she grew to womanhood.

On March 19, 1889 she was united in marriage at West Union, Iowa to Mr. Aaron I. Moyer. The new home was made on a farm north of Westgate, Iowa. To this union five children were born, two of whom died in infancy. On October 31, 1908 the family came to Oelwein, Iowa where they have lived ever since.

Mrs. Moyer suffered a stroke in February 1940, but recovered sufficiently to be around the home. About three weeks ago she was confined to her bed and early on Wednesday morning March 19th entered Celestial rest, on the day that completed 52 years of devoted married life.

She is survived by her husband and by a son, Harvey O. Moyer of Oelwein, and two daughters, Mrs. Lyle McDuffee of Dalton, Wisconsin and Mrs. R. A. Stolz of New Hampton, Iowa. Also by the only remaining sister, Mrs. Libbie Garden of Sumner, Iowa and seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren, together with a number of other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held at Brant Funeral Home on Friday, March 21 at 2:00 pm, the Rev. F C. Witzigman, pastor of Grace church officiating. Interment was made in the family lot in Woodlawn Cemetery.
